One of the most researched topics online is the “How To…” questions about keeping your baby healthy and safe. That’s why I decided to start this blog. First, I am a diplomat of holistic health care and I just wanted to share some of my knowledge I have gained myself. I am particularly interested in the health of soon to be mommy’s, current mommy’s, and the health and wellbeing of the precious babies.

So what about the mommy to be? How can you stay healthy during pregnancy?
Well, the first 6 weeks of the pregnancy are very important for optimal health. This is because if you are nutritionally deprived during gestation this will impact the rest of the pregnancy. Establishing the placenta is very complex and requires the use and production of protein, fatty acids, glucose and oxygen. According to what the mommy to be takes in as far as nutrition, her general health, and environmental toxins will lead to altered gene expression within cells. Therefore, what a mommy to be does during the pregnancy does make a difference. So here are some pointers you could follow.
1. Make sure you are eating nutrient dense, whole foods. An example of these is legumes, eggs, both saturated and unsaturated fats, meats, vegetables, and fruits. I prefer using organics with all of these as some information has been found about pesticides and baby’s brain development. These whole foods will provide a good range of nutrients that are all very important in the baby’s growth and development.
2. Make sure to get rid of toxic chemicals by eating organic foods and exchanging household and cosmetic products with natural ones. Also, incorporate more fiber as this will create healthy bowel movements and a balanced gut bacteria, which helps in detoxification and promotes health.
3. Minimize stress as much as possible. If you do this your stress hormones, adrenaline and cortisol, will allow the nervous system to rest, digest, and use nutrients to promote the healthy growth of the baby.
